Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Does A Small Business Website Cost?

There are no industry set price or range for small business website prices. We choose our competitive prices based on our 20+ years of experience, our target audience purchase history and today's industry.  We target those small business owners who don't want to have to deal with the creation and maintenance of their website. And those owners who would rather focus on other aspects of their business.

What Is A Domain Name?

Basicaly, a domain name is the name of your website. It's totally unique and is what people type in a browser's search bar to find your website. Example: ecclesenterprises.com. No one can find your website without one and no two websites can have the same domain name.

Do I have To Have Website Hosting?

YES. A website hosting service is the backbone of your website. It's where all of your site's files, images, and configuration is stored.

What Is SEO?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. This encompasses a group of technological skils used to make your website content more easily found by search engines like Google and Bing.

The goal for every  small business is to be found on the front page of Google. While this is always the goal, it takes time and consistent SEO services like back linking and keyword research and applications to get your website listed at the top of Google search results page.

There are other factors that affect a small businesses website ability to appear at the top of Google searches, as well, like competition.  So, while  SEO services are necessary for every small business website to be found there's no guarantee of the time that it will appear at the top of those searches.

Do I Have To Sign A Contract?

Yes. But we've always referred to it as an "agreement". We submit it as part of the estimate so we both know and understand the project process and what we're both responsible for.

When Do I Pay For My Project?

All of our projects require a deposit or setup fee be paid before we begin any work on a project. The project balance is paid after the final design is approved by the client.

What Forms of Payment Do We Accept?

We use FreshBooks Small Business Cloud Accounting to process our payments and invoicing so we accept most major credit cards, direct bank payments and PayPal.

Why Are E-Commerce Websites More Expensive?

E-Commerce small business websites have their own share of specific needs. It's does triple duty as a regular website, product catalogue and a payment processing gateway. Not to mention all of the backend requirements that e-commerce websites require.

So we use a third party industry leading e-commerce provider like Shopify to do a lot of the heavy lifting for us. They provide the backend and platform and we design, setup and maintain the front-end of the e-commerce website for you.

The time it takes us to complete a small business website project depends on the requirements of each individual project. The typical time to complete a small business website after we recieve all of youur content/resources is less than 4 weeks.

We use a content management system like Wordpress called Joomla to speed up the process. But not having the necessary content/resources from clients like images, videos, etc can affect the timeline.

Custom small business websites can take up to six weeks or more.

What Is Website Maintenance?

Small Business Website Maintenance is a service that handles the work of managing and maintaining a website for you. Websites are a collection of many different services and technologies working together. This requires regular monitoring and adjustments to keep the website runing smoothly and growing. This includes the security and storage needs of your website.

How Does It Benefit You?

Get your time back. Having a professional website is essential to any business but it requires regular work to grow and become profitable for that business. Why add more to the demands of running your business successfully when you can have it done for you for a small fee? Those fees can also be claimed on your business taxes. Use the time that it will take you to learn the technical ins and outs of your website and apply it to money making activities for your business.

Avoid the headaches. Most people who need a website do not know how to properly create one. So that measns that they are at even greater odds when it comes to maintaining one. Just knowing how to secure your website from common intrusions or what method of back up to use for your website alone can be a daunting for website professionals. Now add on knowing how to rebuild your website when it goes down and most people would be ready for a full blown meltdown. These are some of the things that you're paying for when you purchase a maintenance plan.

What We Offer

"As Needed" Maintenance Plan

For those websites that do not need regular maintenance or updates we bill our services at an hourly rate. This may be best for websites that just need a few tweaks here and there every once in a while.

Monthly Maintenance Plan

For most others, our Monthly Maintenece Plan is perfect. We'll make all "in-scope" changes to your site once a month. This plan includes:

  • Unlimited changes to all in scope content and coding
  • Regualr website backups
  • Joomla, module and plugin updates
  • Email address management (based on hosting plan)
  • Regular website monitoring
  • Analytics report (When requested)
Why Joomla And Not WordPress?

Even though they're both content management systems (CMS), we've found that Joomla has been simpler for clients to update themselves. And we also saw that WordPress sites were being hacked more frequently than Joomla sites, years ago, so we just stuck with Joomla. It's also a personal preference at the end of the day.
